Once I Was Mad

Once I Was Mad for Five Years Straight

after Zachary Schomburg

Once I was mad for five years straight.

Once I bit my tongue, and it bled.

There’s a library on my tongue

I’m trying to put in order.

There are wolves in the stacks, knocking

all the books off the shelves.

I have forgotten how to taste anything

but ink.
